Fees and Policies
The Center for Empowerment and Resilience is out-of-network for all insurance providers, meaning we are not paneled with any insurance plans. This means that all clients are responsible for the full cost of services at the time they are provided.
We provide all our clients with a Superbill (a receipt of payment with diagnostic and service codes), for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
We also utilize a platform called Thrizer to help facilitate easier claim processing for plans with out-of-network (OON) benefits.
What to Know about Thrizer:
Thrizer is designed to streamline and simplify the payment process for OON. With Thrizer, clients will only have to pay a copay for our sessions,
Benefits for Clients:
Upfront affordability
Clients pay only their co-insurance (the percentage of the cost covered by insurance that you’re responsible for after you’ve met your deductible) avoiding the wait for reimbursement.
Simplified process
Thrizer handles the complexities of out-of-network benefits and claims.
Transparency
Clients can see their OON benefits and estimated co-insurance.
According to a 2025 data report, the average reimbursement rates per session in 2025 are:
Optum: $127
UnitedHealthcare (UHC): $124
Aetna: $118
Cigna: $112
We do not accept insurance by design. Fee-for-service allows us to maintain control over your treatment. Many insurance companies impose limits on the number of sessions with in-network providers and conduct chart reviews, which can compromise your privacy.
By choosing an out-of-network (OON) approach, you receive the high level of care and attention you deserve, without an insurance company dictating your treatment. This arrangement also ensures that your private information remains completely confidential and separate from your insurer. Some insurance companies may reimburse clients for a portion of the session costs. At the end of each month, we’ll provide you with an itemized medical receipt, known as a Superbill, which you can submit with your claim form to your health insurance provider for reimbursement. Please note that there’s no guarantee that your insurance will cover any part of the services. It’s a good idea to check with your insurance company to see if they accept superbill receipts from out-of-network providers for claims.
Initial Diagnostic Evaluation (50-53 minute Appointment): $200/$180 (Depending on your provider)
Individual Session (50-53 minute Appointment): $180/$120 (Depending on your provider)
Couples Session (50-53 minute Appointment): $180/$120 (Depending on your provider)
Sliding Scale Fee Structure
We know the cost of therapy can be a barrier, and we want to offer accessibility without sacrificing quality. We are offering a two-tier sliding scale for clients being seen by our licensed therapists who do not hold certifications and are Licensed Graduate Professionals. No financial documents are required, we simply ask for honesty.
Tier 1: $90-$100/session
For clients experiencing more financial strain.
This tier may be the best fit if:
• Paying the full rate would significantly impact your ability to meet your monthly needs.
• You are facing major or recurring expenses (childcare, medical costs, debt).
• You are under-employed, between jobs, or have inconsistent income.
• You are going through a life transition that has tightened your budget.
Tier 2: $100-$120/session
For clients with moderate financial flexibility.
This tier may be the best fit if:
• You can meet monthly bills, but a small discount makes therapy more sustainable.
• You are employed and financially stable, but don’t have a lot of extra income.
• You desire to pay a sustainable rate rather than the lowest possible.
How to Choose Your Tier
Self-Assessment Questions to ask yourself:
1. Would paying the standard rate limit your ability to do therapy consistently?
2. Do you have recurring expenses that would make paying the higher rate difficult (ex: childcare, medical costs, etc.)?
3. Are you currently working part-time, not working or in between jobs?
4. Do you struggle to meet basic needs (housing, food, bills)?
Payment is due at the time of service. We accept all major credit cards and HSA/FSA payments.
